True Dreamer Tag! #dreamerbooktour

Hey everyone! Welcome to Nox Reads, I'm "Nox", and I am so excited to share with you an original book tag inspired by Dreamer by Ja-Mel Vinson!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have been fortunate enough to participate in the Dreamer Blog Tour (#dreamerbooktour on Twitter), and I will be linking a playlist inspired by the book, and later today I will also be posting my review!

I know that not everyone has been able to read the book yet, so have no fears, there are no spoilers in this tag! I tried to keep all of the questions inspired by things mentioned in the first four chapters. These are merely inspired by characters, objects, or awesome quotes- so let's begin!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Maya (the True Dreamer) - If you were a protagonist, what genre would you be in?

Fantasy is the best!!! I'd like to think it would be an urban fantasy though- elements of this world and a magical one together.

2. Rosemary (the Best Friend) - Which bookish character do you think would be your best friend?

This wouldn't be a post on Nox Reads if I didn't mention the Raven Cycle series, no? I think that I could be best friends with all of the Gangsey, but if I had to pick one, it would probably be Noah. I think that he's quiet and calm enough to offset my craziness.

3. Bailey (the Guardian Angel) - Name a fictional character whose wardrobe you want to raid!

There is so much to Bailey, but when she was introduced I was just instantly blown away by how amazing her outfit is! I had to write her question based on this.

I don't really like dresses, but I want Cress's butterfly dress so bad!

4. D.R.E.A.M. (the Academy) - Which fictional school do you want to go to the most?

Obviously, I want to go to Hogwarts! I need to be with my fellow Hufflepuffs, surrounded by magic and charms!

5. Nancy Drew (favorite books) - What is (are) your favorite book(s)?

My favorite book of all time is Fairest by Gail Carson Levine!

6. Mother Nature (alter egos) - Which fictional character is the Hyde to your Jekyll?

My answer for this is Nina Zenik from the Six of Crows duology! I love Nina for her confidence, especially because she is plus-sized like me. I've said several times that I want to be like Nina- beautiful, strong, and confident.

7. Sominium (personal demons) - What books are your personal demons that you need to defeat (aka your crazy TBR)?

I need to finish Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor, The Assassin's Blade by Sarah J. Maas, and A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin!

8. "...and I was swimming in liquid light." (gorgeous descriptions) - What book do you think has beautiful descriptions?

I think my favorite part of The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern was how gorgeous everything sounded! The bonfires, the rooms, the outfits- everything was absolutely magical!

9. Dreamkeepers - Name two or more members of the book community that are your guardian angels!

I've made so many amazing bookish friends, especially through Twitter! I'm shouting out everyone on the Dreamer Blog Tour and all of my friends from nik nak, as well as my friend Tyler and Kait from Kaitlyn's Cozy Reading Corner!

10. True Dreamers - Tag two or more people to do this tag!

I'm tagging everyone else participating in Dreamer Blog Tour! I can't wait to see your answers!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As I said, this tag was inspired by Dreamer by Ja-Mel Vinson! This book has gorgeous descriptions and an amazing premise, and I can't wait to see what's next, because I definitely think it's going to get better!

Check back in a few hours for my full-length spoiler-free book ramble for Dreamer! Until then though, you can listen to a playlist I put together on Spotify here. The playlist was inspired by songs with themes of dreaming, sleeping, and magic (with a couple of show tunes in the mix, because I appreciated Rosemary's Cell Block Tango reference), and I hope you all love it. Make sure to check out the tour's launch post here!

The link to preorder the book on Amazon is right here, and feel free to add it on Goodreads!

Most importantly, I invite you to check out the other posts from #dreamerblogtour, and please come and participate in the Twitter chat hosted by Shealea on March 2nd!

Dreamer by Ja-Mel Vinson comes out on March 19, 2019!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thank you for reading, everyone! Have a great day!

A Guide to Anti-Racist Resources | #blacklivesmatter #sayhisname

Hi everyone. Welcome to Nox the Reader, and today I'm sharing a compiled list of different anti-racist resources that I've seen shared on Bookstagram and Twitter. Please note: THIS LIST IS EVER-EVOLVING AND EXPANDING. AS I GATHER MORE INFORMATION, I WILL BE ADDING IT TO THIS GUIDE. IF THERE'S ANYTHING YOU FEEL I SHOULD ADD, PLEASE DM ME ON TWITTER @nox_reads, OR COMMENT DOWN BELOW. Before I share this list, all I want to say is that I'm mad as hell and I'm tired. My dad always shared stories about living in Inglewood in the 90s during the time of Rodney King and the LA Riots. And it's almost 30 years later and nothing has changed. I've grown up surrounded by names as hashtags and videos cycled through the media and it's infuriating  and heartbreaking and exhausting . And a lot of us are wondering what to do, how to break this system and burn it to the ground. And it starts with educating ourselves and uplifting the voices of others. In this list are book...

Neil Gaiman's Stardust is the Best Kind of Ridiculous | Book Ramble

Welcome to Nox the Reader, I'm Nox, and I really  want to talk about Neil Gaiman's Stardust, which I feel is a give me ALL the merch! "Every lover is, in his heart, a madman, and, in his head, a minstrel." Some of you may remember the movie Stardust from 2007, which for some reason gets lost in my memory alongside the boring, terrible, why did I ever watch that movie adaptation of The Golden Compass. Gramps was flipping through the movie channels a few weeks ago and we caught the last thirty minutes of this movie that I had a vague recollection of, and I absolutely loved  those last thirty minutes (which had a lot to do with the overall quality and Claire Danes' speech at the end but also so  much to do with Tristan being played by a young Daredevil...) . So naturally, I had to pick up the book! Stardust was a bit of a ride for me. It's a short read, a bit more than 200 pages, and it starts off heavily with exposition surrounding the town of Wall a...

Book Trigger Warnings Wiki | Community Resource

Hey everyone! Welcome to Nox the Reader, I'm "Nox", and today I'm sharing an awesome community resource that my friends Jenny and Rob made: the Book Trigger Warnings Wikia! Jenny and Rob officially launched the website last Thursday, and the way it's set up is amazing! This is going to be a graphic-heavy post because I want to show y'all how easy it is to use. Anyone can view and explore the wiki, but in order to edit and add the triggers, you have to create an account. I'm not kidding when I say it took me less than a minute to set one up! You click where it says Anonymous in the top right corner, click Create Account, and you make a username and password! That's it! I love this idea because some of us have triggers that are oftentimes overlooked by others. If you're worried that a trigger won't be included, there's nothing better than including it yourself! If a book you've read isn't already on the wiki, you can create a pa...
