Top 5 Wednesday: Fictional Places I'd Take A Date

Hi everyone! Welcome to Nox Reads, I'm "Nox", and it's Wednesday my dudes (I apologize for the cringe that I have just started), which means I have a post! Today's Top 5 Wednesday prompt is Fictional Places I'd Take A Date, which means you get to hear my ramble on about how beautiful these places are. Let's begin!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Cabeswater from The Raven Cycle series by Maggie Stiefvater
"Oh wow, Nox is talking about the Raven Cycle series. I'm so surprised!" - no one ever

Cabeswater is a magical place though! It's gorgeous, with fish that change color depending on your thoughts, trees that speak Latin, and you can walk through the year. Also, if Ronan Lynch can take his date there then dang it, so can I!

2. Hogsmeade from The Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling
"Oh wow, Nox is talking about Harry Potter. I'm so surprised!" - no one ever

I would have picked Hogwarts, but then I thought about and realized that nobody wants to go on a date to a school. I know that Hogwarts is magical, but at the end of the day it's still a school. So I went with the next best thing, where people in Harry Potter actually take their dates - Hogsmeade! A cup of Butterbeer in the Three Broomsticks while it's snowing outside...a trip to Honeydukes...

Also I'm about 75% sure that Hogsmeade has a bookstore. So Fred Weasley, if you're out there...

3. Ellingham Academy from Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson
If they aren't down to solve a cold case then they aren't the one, okay?

Did this just break my logic for Hogwarts? Yes, but since when have I ever been ruled by logic? Also, the premise of this is entirely different. 1) I'm too old to be a student at Ellingham and 2) I don't want to go there for school, I want to go for crime. That could be a good date, right? Solving cold cases? It works for Charlotte Holmes!

4. Weep from Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor
More specifically, Lazlo's dream version of Weep. I completely and utterly fell in love with Lazlo Strange and I would be 100% down to go with him anywhere in his dreams! His version of Weep sounds so beautiful, though, and I think it's the perfect place for any date.

5. Red London from A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab
TAKE ME TO KELL LONDON!

Red London is full of glimmering, shimmering magic, and the air smells like flowers! Everyone is happy....nobody's dying.... I just want to go to Red London. Preferably with Kell, but if not, then I'll still go.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, everyone, those are the top 5 fictional places that I'd take a date too! Let's be honest, it is pretty much just my fictional bucket list, so I'd go with or without someone.

Please let me know down below what fictional places you would take a date too! This was fun! A bit challenging to be honest (because apparently most of the books I read have something terrible happen, which is why I couldn't say Heimdall Station), but really fun!

Thank you for reading! Have a great day!

A Guide to Anti-Racist Resources | #blacklivesmatter #sayhisname

Hi everyone. Welcome to Nox the Reader, and today I'm sharing a compiled list of different anti-racist resources that I've seen shared on Bookstagram and Twitter. Please note: THIS LIST IS EVER-EVOLVING AND EXPANDING. AS I GATHER MORE INFORMATION, I WILL BE ADDING IT TO THIS GUIDE. IF THERE'S ANYTHING YOU FEEL I SHOULD ADD, PLEASE DM ME ON TWITTER @nox_reads, OR COMMENT DOWN BELOW. Before I share this list, all I want to say is that I'm mad as hell and I'm tired. My dad always shared stories about living in Inglewood in the 90s during the time of Rodney King and the LA Riots. And it's almost 30 years later and nothing has changed. I've grown up surrounded by names as hashtags and videos cycled through the media and it's infuriating  and heartbreaking and exhausting . And a lot of us are wondering what to do, how to break this system and burn it to the ground. And it starts with educating ourselves and uplifting the voices of others. In this list are book
